I am looking for references comparing the performance of neural
networks to that of humans on similar tasks. One such comparison
I beleive was made in the work by John Denker who had been
involved in a project with the US Post Office developing networks
to recognize zip codes. Last I had heard, the ANN had met or
exceeded the performance of human workers.

I would appreciate any leads. Please forward to my email address.
