I am looking for a set of rules or a script to generate regular inflected
forms from the base form for English words. I'd love to find freeware
but since this is for a commercial product we can afford to pay some $.

We were just going to take Jespersen & write our own rules but we hope someone
else has already done this work.

The problem is this -- we need to make sure all the words used in our
dictionary have also been defined. So we need to make a list of the inflected
forms of our headwords to check the defining list against, so we don't
get too many false negatives. We had a static forms list in the past,
but that caused problems since we often deleted headwords from the
dictionary but didn't have a process to delete the forms from our static list.
Now we'd like to create the inflected forms list on the fly, so that
we have a good reflection of the extant headwords.

I read the FAQ and tried to anon FTP to clr.nmsu.edu for the catalog file
but couldn't get through. Is this still working or did I just pick
a too-busy time?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
