Is it possible for a sufficiently powerful set of computers to generate
a functioning eco-system based upon pre-determined start-up values and
then allowing the computer set to "evolve" the eco-system? Is it possible
to generate entire worlds (ie. wind, rain, volcanoes, rivers, bugs,
vegitation, etc) if initialized with a generic set of opening values and
given enough time? How complicated is this type of programming?

I am not a programmer but a project developer and need some insight into
this powerful form of creativity.
