Hi There,

here's a little mix of my experience with Creatures.

1/ Some problems I had with the Egg disk. I'll start with
this, since I spent more time solving that problem than
playing.
--> MAKE A BACKUP of your egg disk even before installing !

I had some problems with the Egg disk. I now suppose
it was due to a physical floppy disk problem.

First of all, I only had 5 eggs on my disk, instead of 6.
The disk looked OK (header.dat + 6 eggs folders).
Later, one egg systematically crashed Creatures.
After uninstalling/reinstalling Creatures from my System,
I couldn't get any more egg from my egg disk (looked
empty).

I tried to use the Emergency Kit: According to the notice,
there should be a "No more Eggs" button to generate a new
egg disk. Unfortunately is this button missing !
Did someone already manage to use that Emergency Kit to
generate new Eggs ???

I then had a nice empty Albia world.
Hopefully, before playing Creatures, I had made a backup of
the Egg disk (all files to hard disk), which I could use
to create a brand new egg disk.
Re-copying these files to a new disk gave me a new egg-
disk, with 6 eggs this time... all of them !

2/ My experiences in Albia world
Besides these problems, I had some fun with the norns.
They're amusing, willing to communicate (well, not always)
and kind of nice with you if you treat them well, like
they want to follow your hand, to "pull" you, etc.
I'm so happy when they look at me with that great smile!

But if everything looked simple and fun at the beginning,
I shortly became confused about a lot of things :
they rarely get something to eat (I trained them to eat,
but they seem to like starving !), and my 1.5-hour old
Male norn keeps sleeping. Then wakes up, says "Adam sleeps",
and go to snore again.... :-(

Another strange behavior between Adam and Eve is that they
keep telling each other to run (away ?)... Are they playing
or are there uncomfortable together ? On another hand, they
are sometimes well together and sometime not so nice("Ouch !").
Perhaps sharing knowledge about good and evil...

Overall, this is kind of fun, but I hope I'll manage my
norns to get a bit smarter, otherwise I'll soon go like
my little Adam... :-) On another hand, once you're well
into the game, it should be rather addictive.

So far, I find it quite difficult to train my little
creatures + I have the feeling they mix everything :
If I train them the word "Carrot" they will call
lemons "carott". They I train them the word "lemon".
They will recognize lemons as "lemon", but will
call carrots "lemon" too. I can't get them to make
a distinction. Same thing applies for toys: everything
is a "ball" or a whatever.
They say strange things too : "Adam pull carrot" or
"Adam push carrot" instead of "get carrot", like I
always told them.

I've only spent about two hours with "my" creatures,
but as you see, questions are coming quite fast. I
hope I'll find answers.

Please share your experience !

Cheers,
Yann
