It is not clear to what you object.  Surely it is not to posting
an announcement about a book that it seems fair to assume might
be of interest to the group, considering the nature of the book
and the nature of the group; this is done all the time.  If it is
that you find the claims made in this *particular* announcement 
to be unbelievable, or objectionable in themselves, you are of
course entitled to your opinion.  All you need to do in that case
is ignore the claims and ignore the announcement.  Or take me 
up on the claims.  But to accuse me of "classic shameless self 
promotion" is uncalled for.  Classic ad hominem.  The shame is 
on you.
