"Technological Singularity," by Vernor Vinge writing on pages
88 to 95 of the Winter 1993 issue of the Whole Earth Review, is a
terrifying but probably realistic depiction of the futures of AI:
      1. What Is the Singularity?
      2. Can the Singularity Be Avoided?
      3. Other Paths to the Singularity
      4. Strong Superhumanity and the Best We Can Ask For.
Vinge's article is superlatively, disturbingly excellent. Enjoy.
