I agree and also, considering the geopolitical distribution of nuclear 
weapons and some of the unpredictable effects of "nuclear winter" (if we 
still think its effects will be as far reaching as first thought) I 
chance it to say that most of the southern hemisphere, the south pole and 
most sea life will remain.  Granted they may have to adapt to severe 
changes in their ecosystems yet the initial nuclear exchange will have 
little effect on them, leaving only fallout and a mild to severe 
greenhouse (possibly shortlived) to damage their ecosystems.  The earth 
will then have rid itself of the annoying blemishes we created and 
begin to cleanse itself of the radiation and renew itself in 
a few short eons.  Most of the harmful rad-levels will dissipate before 
styrofoam begins to decompose.
