Perhaps they would survive a nuclear blast, who can really tell.
But until mankind is wiped out my can of "Raid" is quite effective to
demonstrate my "upper hand". Remember, we figured out how to destroy
most other forms of life before we found an effective cure for the human
infection. Humans never developed the power or defenses necessary to
battle a powerful jungle animal, a swarm of killer insects, or survive a
nuclear blast. So in some physical terms we are dealt a losing deck, but
the ace up the sleeve is what can win or lose the game. It takes some
bit of intelligence to wield that card the right (or wrong) way.

: Is it true that cockroaches can survive a nuclear blast?

Theres good evidence, but its all theory based on inaccurate
models and limited scale nuclear testing. Its hard for me to envision
much of anything living through the real thing.
