Isn't this precisely what neural network technology is essentialy doing.
Take a neurone, work out its properties (refractory period etc etc) and then
make a mathematical model of it. Then start chaining them together in
layers. Feed input into the top layer and see what comes out at the bottom
  layer. --

I very interesting topic you talking about and the main task philosphie
has to do, is to ask questions. So, here are more questions and
inspirations:
Man may be able to simulate the brain perfectly, but is he able to
understand and overview this simulation? If he really is able then if got
the question: Is he able to analyse a thought with his simulation at the
same time while he thinks about this thought? And if this is possible,
how while man decide about his thoughts when he can predict them. Maybe
then man is like god and now it is a question of believe if god is in
every man (greetings from Descartes). But due to this idea we think that
everthing is not eternal otherwise we while never recognize it. So, I
think that the question of how our brain works is tidely connected with
our ability to understand the meaning of enternity. So, here is my last
question, which is really worth to think about: What is eternity?

Sorry, for my bad english.
