It was during registration for the start of my third year in
college at the University of Detroit. I was majoring in philosophy.
I was standing in line to register for a course in Camus that was
being given by my favorite professor, Dr. George Pickering.
A fellow student was standing between lines, trying to decide
which one to enter. The line right next to mine was the registration
line for a class in experimental psych, you know, the study of such
things as galvanic skin responses and other reflexive dimensions of
of psychology. The fellow student, Doris, was in a real quandry. She
wanted very much to take Pickering's Camus class, but needed the
psych to fill a requirement for graduation. The schedules for the
respective classes conflicted. "What should I do, George", she asked
Dr. Pickering in an exasperated tone. Dr. Pickerings response came
straight away. "Oh Doris, without a firm grounding in the absurd,
you're never going to understand experimental psychology!"

This life is a test. It is only a test.
If this were a real life you would have received
instructions about where to go and what to do..
