Resume

I am a second year student at the Language Technologies Institute in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
I am advised by Prof. William Cohen.

  Research

My research interests center around statistical modeling and machine learning; and its applications in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
I currently work on a project to extract timelines from news stories. Previously I worked on the RADAR project, specifically on Message Task Linking (aka MeTaL).

Vitor Carvalho, William and I worked on a Thunderbird extension to do recipient prediction and information leak detection. Please do give CutOnce a whirl and send us any feedback. It will be much appreciated.

Please drop by at the Text Learning meeting every Tuesday to listen to some great talks.

  Coordinates

My lab is in the 2nd floor of Newell Simon Hall. Due to Pittsburgh's abhorrence of flat terrain, the 2nd floor of Newell Simon Hall is deep in the recesses of the earth. While natural light might be scarce, I am assuredly safe in the event of a nuclear explosion.

  Background Info

I was born and raised in Bangalore, India where the dosas are reason enough for living.
I graduated from PESIT with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 2003. After that I worked on Automatic Text Categorization and Information Extraction problems at Yahoo! for four years before enrolling in this grad program at the LTI.
I blamed my sometimes sad demeanor on excessive exposure to B.B. King who rules the blues.
Also, please consider writing your Congressman asking for Stewie Griffin from Family Guy to be declared a national treasure.
