Call for PapersSince 1992, the AAAI Mobile Robot Competition and Exhibition has provided a venue for robotics researchers to showcase their work in a public setting. Over the years, the competition has included a wide variety of events, reflecting current open research problems in the field. Early competitions tended to focus more on navigation and map-building tasks while, more recently, human-robot interaction tasks have become more prevalent. The competition has been increasingly focused on whole systems that are able to operate in unstructured environments. As a result, it has advanced the state of the art in software integration for robotics as much as it has tested and showcased specific research projects. We solicit papers from competitors in the AAAI Mobile Robot Competition and Exhibition describing their entries, an evaluation of the robot's performance, and a description of the lessons learned at the competition. We especially encourage authors to address the systems integration aspects of their entries, and to discuss how the various software subsystems worked together to create the overall system. Maximum submission length should be no longer than 10 pages. Please send email to Bill Smart (email below) if you are planning to submit a paper to this special issue.
