Our Kaija!
Kaija was a happy and energetic female golden retriever. We
called her our social butterfly because she could NEVER get enough
attention!
She loved to meet and greet every single person who walked by! To name
only
a few of her favorite hobbies, she enjoyed:
- Fetching her basketball
- Licking titles off the spines of Daddy's books
- Playing hockey with a tennis ball and, of course, with Daddy
- Romping in Pittsburgh's parks
Note the above acronym is FLPR for Flipper, king of the sea. Golden retrievers are the dolphins of the land.
We purchased Kaija from Ann Johnson of Gold-Rush Kennels in Princeton, NJ. Ann enjoys a reputation as one of the finest breeders who seek to preserve the best of the golden's endearing characteristics (a few side-effects of which are enumerated above). Thus our dog's official AKC name is Gold Rush Kaija.
Note: Anyone considering owning a golden should also seriously think about a rescue golden. They make great pets! Here are some Web sites to check out for rescued goldens and other Golden Retriever stuff:
