I did my undergraduate studies in the Computer Engineering and
Informatics Department (CEID) of the University of Patras, Greece. Then I
attended the Master of Science in Information Networking program (MSIN) of
the Information Networking Institute (INI) of Carnegie Mellon University
(CMU), which was offered in the premises of Athens Information Technology (AIT)
in Athens, Greece. Currently, I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Electrical and
Computer Engineering Department (ECE) of the Carnegie Mellon University. My
advisor is Assistant Professor Anastassia (Natassa) Ailamaki, member of
Carnegie Mellon's database group. Below you may find links to all those
institutes, as well as, a link to a guide for all those students mainly
coming from Greece who intend to continue their studies in the States.

Carnegie Mellon University: Carnegie
Mellon University is ranked among the best engineering universities in
the US and the world. Carnegie Mellon is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
and it is the only top 25 university in the States founded in the
twentieth
century (1900). |

Anastassia Ailamaki:
Anastassia or Natassa Ailamaki is an Assistant Professor in the Computer
Science as well as the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
of Carnegie Mellon University. Natassa got her Ph.D. from the
University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2000. Natassa did her undergraduate studies
in the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of the University
of Patras, Greece. |

Athens Information Technology: Athens Information Technology (AIT) is a research center
located in the premises of Intracom S.A. in Athens, Greece. AIT in
conjunction with the Information Networking Institute (INI) of CMU are
offering the Master of Science in Information Networking (MSIN) program
to students in Greece. The two years that I spent in AIT will be
an unforgettable experience to me. |

Information Networking
Institute: Information Networking Institute (INI) of CMU is a
research institute leaded by Prof. Dena Haritos Tsamitis and offers its MSIN program to students both in CMU as well as in AIT. |

Autonomic and Grid Computing Laboratory: The Autonomic and Grid Computing Laboratory (AGC)
is a research unit in AIT. I completed my MSIN thesis as part of a
projet of AGC and under the supervision of two AGC professors, in
particular, its Head Professor Lazaros Polymenakos and Professor John
Soldatos. When I graduated from MSIN and for 7 months I had been working
as a researcher in AGC. I gained many things in the one year that I
spent as a member of this group. Thank you guys for being such a
pleasant team to work with. Thank you Lazaros, John, Aristodemos,
Kostas, Michael, Fotis, and Andreas. |

Computers in the Human Interaction Loop Project: The Computers in the Human Interaction
Loop project (CHIL) is an integrated project (IP) funded by the European
Union (EU) under contract (IP-506909). I worked for the CHIL. In
particular, I participated in the development of the middleware
technology of this system. |

University of Patras, Greece: The University of Patras in Greece is one of the most
developed and modern universities in Greece. It is located in Rion,
around 8 kilometers outside Patras, one of the most important cities in
Western Greece, and the major Greek harbor in the Ionian Sea. |

Computer Engineering and Informatics Department: The Computer Engineering and Informatics
Department (CEID) of the University of Patras is one of most prestigious
Computer Engineering departments of Greece and South Eastern Europe.
Many of the most important computer scientists of Greece are somehow related to
this department. CEID is tightly-coupled with the Research Academic and
Computer Technology Institute (RACTI), a research center located in the
Technological Park of Patras, Greece. |
