Press “Enter” to
switch off the Low Temperature mode and begin heating to reach desired
plastic temperature.
Change foam in
machine if necessary
Generate Job File
Run Insight program
Load your STL file (generate with minimum chord length and arc
control set to 1.0)
Orient the part as desired (figure 1)
Generate the part slices and model tool paths and support
material tool paths (figure 2)
Repeate 1 for each file
On last part, send it to the FDM software (figure 3)
Position the parts in the bottom left hand corner
Add additional parts or copies as desired (figure 4)
1. In Insight position your
STL file
2. In run the 'slice-n-dice' process
3. When generated last part, send
it to the FDM program
4. Add as many parts/copies/extras
that you need
5. Send it all to the FDM machine
Check status of FDM
Make sure the 3
target temperatures are reached (model, support, and envelope)
Load small pieces of
model and support (toggle button to switch between model/support)
Brush off with wire
brush
Send your job to the FDM machine (figure 5)
Homing FDM Machine
Machine goes into
pause mode when it receives the job (it will make an audible click when
ready)
Press (un)pause,
machine will home and return to its paused state
Make sure the model
is the tip in use (you should see Model 100% on the LCD display)
Position the model
tip (the left one when looking into the machine) using the x,y,z
controls (center to go fast, z-axis toggles the z movement)
Position the model
tip at the left hand side closest to the machine door. The tip should
be just buried in the foam, with the chamfer edge clear. This will be
the (0,0) extreme of your job print out (the bottom left corner in the
FDM layout software view)
When ready, press
(un)pause. The FDM machine will begin laying out the first layers of
support, followed by your parts. Check to make sure the parts will be
printed over good flat foam.
Record the amount of material
(model + support) your job will use and the account information
Retrieving Your Job
When your job is complete, retrieve it from the machine and turn
the machine off
Break off any large pieces, then place the parts in the Sonic
agitator tank (near the grinders/band saw)
Close the cage lid, but leave the outer lid off and make sure the
agitator tank has enough liquid to cover the cage. Top it up with water
if necessary
Start the agitator tank (2 hours is nominal)
When done, retrieve pieces and rinse them under water
